George Carlin died at the age of 71 when his heart gave out after being admitted to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California for having chest pains.
Carlin was cremated and had no public or religious services performed as he had previously requested.

George Carlin was widely regarded as one of the best comedians of all time. He was awarded four Grammies for his comedy albums. His most famous bit about the seven words you are not allowed to say on television was actually used as reference in a Supreme Court case regarding the government's power to regulate "indecent" material on public airwaves.

Those we love remain with us
for love itself lives on
and cherished memories never fade
because a loved ones gone

those we love can never be
more than a thought apart
for as long as there is memory
they'll live on in the heart.
